Sandra Beckwiths years of work as a writer, laugher, publicist and person who talks too much coalesced in 1993, when she launched Her book, Streetwise Complete Publicity Plans: How to Create Publicity That Will Spark Media Exposure and Excitement (Adams Media 2003), a how-to book for small business owners, is a popular resource because of its “here’s-how-to-do-it” information. Sandra offers practical publicity advice and information to nonprofit organizations, too, in Publicity for Nonprofits: Generating Media Exposure That Leads to Awareness, Growth, and Contributions (Kaplan Publishing, June 2006). A recovering award-winning publicist and former contributing editor of several trade publications, Sandra has worked at an educational publishing company in Madison, Wisc.; at the Chicago office of one of the worlds largest public relations firms; and at a beverage alcohol distiller/marketer in Hartford, Conn. Self-employed since 1985, Sandra has been working from a home office for so long that she suspects she is no longer employable. She has a degree in journalism and public relations from Utica College, Utica, N.Y., and is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, the American Society of Business Publication Editors, and the Public Relations Society of America. Reporters call Sandra regularly for her lighthearted insights into male behavior. She has offered tips for getting men to help with the housework (its easier than you think!) on CBS This Morning, supervised a Stupid Men Tricks Race on Crook & Chase, and discussed how to get a gift you actually want from a man during the holiday season on Home & Family. She has appeared on many other nationally-syndicated programs, including Montel Williams, and has been interviewed by radio stations coast-to-coast and by many magazines and daily newspapers, including Marie Claire, First for Women, Womans World, The New York Times, USA Today, The Chicago Tribune and many, many other media outlets.
